Tips to have your car ready for the summer and not have failures in high temperatures
It is good to know what tips to apply for proper maintenance of your vehicle

We are only days away from the start of summer, this means that the hottest season of the year begins and with it many fun activities.

Road trips to the beach, a lake, or just going to the supermarket should be safe and with the car's air conditioning.

Like winter weather, extremely hot temperatures also greatly affect the inner workings of your vehicle.

Extremely hot temperatures also greatly affect engine performance and it is good to know what tips to apply for proper maintenance of your vehicle to be ready for the summer.

Here we leave some tips to have the car ready for the summer and high temperatures.

Check the condition of the motor oil

Oil is in charge of lubricating almost all the internal parts of an engine, preventing them from wearing too much due to the friction of metals. It also helps keep the engine clean, preventing dirt build-up and keeping it from overheating.

Check the car battery

The battery has many functions in a car, but three of these are related to the car's electrical system.

The first function is to provide electrical power to the car to start the vehicle. The second is to act as a stabilizer of the electrical system and the third is to provide electrical power for a limited time to the electronic circuits of the car.

Don't forget to check the expiration date of the battery.

Antifreeze

Check the antifreeze level, add if you need it or change the fluid if necessary.

All engine fluids must be changed from time to time, all fluids in the car lose their components and stop working properly

That is why the antifreeze must be purged once a year to guarantee its proper functioning and maintain the proper engine temperature.

The antifreeze has scale and salts, if it is not purged or replaced it begins to accumulate scale and salts that obstruct the flow of the liquid in the joints and hoses. This will cause the engine to warm up and end up in more expensive repairs.

Check the air conditioning.

The air conditioning system in a car works thanks to these four elements:

Mechanical compressor: the mechanical compressor works thanks to the force generated by the motor.
Expansion valve: this valve restricts where the compressor pumps.
Heat exchangers: evaporator and condenser.
Refrigerant gas: this has to flow through the entire system.

The reality is that the refrigerant gas does not run out or wears out, if you have to recharge your system with refrigerant gas it is due to a leak or micro leak in the system, which is caused by the passage of time and use.

These may be some signs that your car's air conditioning is about to run out:

  • The air conditioner does not cool enough.
  • Strange smell coming from the vents.
  • It does not blow cold air constantly.
